Argillferous earth (red clay) with some limestone and layers of sand.
Cold and dry winter. The warm spring brings bud break forward, affected by a frost that marks different blooms and irregular ripening, also affected by the generalized drought of the vegetative cycle. High nocturnal contrasts at the end of summer help to achieve a good phenolic ripeness of the grapes.
Finca la Nava got planted in the year 1996, using a clone which gives small berries. The plot (0,8 ha) consists in red clay, some broken stones on the surface. In the lower part, rhe plot slopes down towards rhe North, it is mixed with sand and alluvial earth. Due to the climatic challenges the yields are always small.
October 6, 2016. Manual, in 15 kg boxes, destemmed, fermented with native yeast and macerated for 13 days.
The malolactic fermentation is run in oak-barrels. In these barrels the wine afterwards ages during fourteen months.
